The Virtual Church

It's about time. I have just learned that there is a Christian Church dedicated solely to ministering to those on the Internet! It's name is LifeChurch.tv, and can be found on the web at that very address.

LifeChurch.tv is no hokey little web site run by some recently web enabled Southern Baptist who wants to spread the Gospel; rather it's a very slick, very modern site with streaming video, podcasts, and it's home page is done in a blog type format.

And just like your "bricks & mortar" style church, it even has LIVE weekend services, on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings.

But that's not all...it also sponsors mission trips! But as you might imagine, the "trips" do not require a passport and plane tickets, rather they go out to the meeting grounds of the Internet and attempt to witness to people they already have relationships with. Tomorrow they are planning a big missions trip over at MySpace.com.

This very interesting, extremely progressive church is part of the Evangelical Covenant denomination, which I blogged about here. I've never known any denomination so willing to try out new approaches and technologies to reach the lost. Here is one organizataion that we can rightly applaud.

As for me, I think I will continue checking out LifeChurch.tv, and see what they have to offer. Maybe I'll even form a LifeGroup....
